The cup you purchased is a cardboard cup with an FSC certification and made with a bioplastic PLA coating. This means that it has a compostable coating made from corn starch. We source this cup from a manufacturer that has these cups tested by external agencies for compostability. This also comes with a composting certificate. Therefore, the cup is industrially compostable according to the European EN 13432 standard. Experience shows that it varies by waste processor how they handle this.
