Uitmuntend! Erg tevreden, geen op en of aanmerkingen. Ga zo door, we kennen elkaar van de vele radiomarkten, een praatje maken is altijd gezellig.

After a long time away from the "on-air side of Amateur Radio", a friend, Dave GM3WIL, introduced me to the idea of building a cheap but effective (according to the feedback reviewed) active HF antenna, and for that purpose recommended the Miniwhip sold on the Dutch website AmateurRadioShop.nl; this was Monday 25th June. I decided to order the kit version that evening, and on the morning of Thursday 28th it arrived (I'm in Scotland). Abiding by the rules of careful radio circuitry construction, that stage was simple, and soon after that, a suitable non-metallic enclosure was manufactured as well (I chose 80mm square PVC drainpipe, just to be different from those who choose the round pipe format). The organisation of the antenna for test purposes outside my shack here, and sorting out the DC supply to its power PCB, took a little bit of time, but eventually, all that was needed for a test was in place. I hooked up the antenna to my AR5000 Rx and switched on ... oh dear .... where is that S9 QRN coming from ... I switched things off one by one in the shack and ... there it was, a noisy external HD on the PC, so, with everything calmed down on the noise front (down to S2), I proceeded to tune around all the HF bands ... ... "brilliant performance", is how I would describe what this tiny little antenna provides. So, thank you guys there at amateurradioshop.nl for helping to make this "active antenna experience" easy and worthwhile ... this is a good kit, and for the purpose of general listening around on the HF bands, I think it does a super job, and, at a very cheap price! Cheers ... Tom GM4DOZ
